Latin America Post-Show Report
Fall 2006
|
|
|
Dear Past Exhibitors:
We would first like to thank you for your previous
business with International Student Network.
For over ten years it has been our privilege and
pleasure to provide the American Education Expos
around the world to help you and your institution find
qualified international students and meet your
recruitment goals.
We appreciate all the effort and energy you put into
the 2006 Fall Latin America Expos. This is our
eleventh series of Expos in Latin America, our most
popular area of business. As a result, you kept to the
high expectations set for our presenters, and
represented your institution well. All the students,
parents, and school staff from Mexico, Colombia, and
Ecuador were all pleased with your interest in the
area and the enthusiasm you showed for the
prospective students. We also thank
you for the feedback we received during the trip. If
you have any further suggestions or questions about
the trip, do not hesitate to contact an associate at
ISN.
We have enclosed this report to highlight the
accomplishments you made during our Fall 2006 Expos
in Latin America. Please share this with your co-
workers and superiors. We hope this will convey your
successes and convince your institution to join us for
a future Expo series.

Mexico City, Mexico

October 21, 2006 2,000 Students Attended
The Expo in Mexico City was the largest Expo on our
itinerary and one of the biggest in which we have
ever participated. Over thirty American schools met
thousands of students in our day-long event.
Both students and parents met with exhibitors to
seriously discuss the possibility of attending one of
the presenting schools. The United States is the top
destination for Mexican students going to universities
abroad.

Cali, Colombia
|

October 23, 2006 400 Students Attended
The day started with a mini-expo at a local high
school. Students were eager to see us and very
interested in the 2+2 programs offered at some
institutions. Others talked to recruiters about summer
study programs at their universities.
This was yet another successful four-hour exhibition.
Students and their parents proved they were serious
about attending American universities and knew the
value of an American degree. Each student was very
sure of their desired majors.
80% of attending students were interested in
undergraduate programs along with language
programs. Others showed interest in graduate
programs or summer courses.

Bogota, Colombia
|
|
October 24-25, 2006 550 Students Attended
Our Bogota expo began with a one-hour briefing on
the education system in Colombia and factors to
consider regarding how Colombian students decide
their higher education. Advisors presented to our
exhibitors and there was then a visa seminar,
presented by the U.S. Embassy in Bogota.
The expo later started. We spent three hours talking
with top-quality students and their parents
interested in attending American universities. The
exchanges and questions posed to our presenters
showed their knowledge of American schools. Many of
our exhibitors made strong leads with potential
students and some received preliminary applications.
This is another successful trip to Bogota. Many
exhibitors saw quick results and left with completed
admissions applications.

Quito, Ecuador

|
October 26-27, 2006 1,090 Students Attended
In Quito, our recruiters held another great visa
seminar hosted by the U.S. Embassy with a
discussion of the process for obtaining a
student visa. The visa seminar was packed with
students prior to the expo. The universities later
discussed the admissions process.
The expo was well-attended, with the top students
from across Ecuador visiting with the recruiters.
Although this is a smaller market, the parents were
very knowledgeable about American universities, and
asked some great questions. Our recruiters were
pleased by the quality turn-out, and hope to return
to this market soon. The first two hours of very
crowded, as all of over 490 attending students were
interested in undergraduate programs.
At our first mini-expo, around 400 high school
students attended. All the exhibitors were very happy
with this school visit, as students from surrounding
schools also attended. The potential market was all
for undergraduate students interested in studying in
the U.S.
Our last stop in the Latin America Expo was another
mini-expo in Quito. The event was well-subscribed by
the tenth through twelfth graders at the school. The
recruiters appreciated meeting the students and
making connections with guidance counselors.
Maintaining contact with these counselors will help
with future applications and will bring more students
to earn the important American degree.

As you know, we limit the numbers of universities we
take to Latin America to allow for high-quality expos
and to foster continuing professional relationships
between American universities and international high
school administrators. Please let us know in advance
if you can join us next year for another visit. For
further information please call ISN at 215-246-3432.
Thank you again for making Latin Fall Expo 2006 one
of our best tours ever!
Sincerely,
The ISN Staff
