Spring 2006
|
|
|
Dear Past Exhibitors:
We would first like to thank you for your previous
business with International Student Network.
For years it has been our privilege and
pleasure to provide the American Education Expos
around the world to help you and your institution find
qualified international students and meet your
recruitment goals.
We appreciate all the effort and energy you put into
the Asia Expo Spring 2006. As a result, you kept to the
high expectations set for our presenters, and
represented your institution well. All the students,
parents, and school staff from Seoul, Tokyo and
Shanghai were all pleased with your interest in the
area and the enthusiasm you showed for the
prospective students. We also thank
you for the feedback we received during the trip. If
you have any further suggestions or questions about
the trip, do not hesitate to contact an associate at
ISN.
We have enclosed this report to highlight the
accomplishments you made during our 2006 Spring
Expo in Asian countries. Please share this with your
co-workers and superiors. We hope this will convey
your successes and convince your institution to join
us for a future Expo series.

Tokyo Agent Visits
|
|
February 25th-27th, 2006 Over 70 students and parents attended
The expo started with a visit at the leading study-
abroad agency in Japan. 12 US universities and
colleges met with over 30 students interested in
studying in the US for 2 hours. They discussed the
advantages of studying in the US, campus life etc.
The next day, university representatives met with over
40 students at another leading study abroad agency in
Japan for 2 hours. The agency also strongly
recommended the representatives to contact students
about the scholarship and other opportunities that
participating universities and colleges offer to
international students. The two days visits at the
agencies were productive.
Universities were pleased with the turnout and
thankful for the agents' suggestions.
The next day, on February 27th, 2006, our exhibitors
had the opportunity to meet directly with students from
local international high school. The meeting with the
guidance counselor went well and our university
representatives met with 30 students at the mini-expo.

Tokyo Agent Expo
|
|
February 27th, 2006 Over 40 Top-tier agents attended
The culmination of the trip to Japan was the Agent
Expo in Tokyo. Over 40 top-tier agencies attended the
presentations and seminars, a noteworthy turnout for
an agent-driven market. The highlight of the event
were the individual presentations by each school, who
got a chance to discuss their unique merits and the
advantages Japanese students would have of
attending their schools.
The schools appreciated this opportunity, and the
agencies found the talks very informative, as they
learned the differences between each of the
presenting universities. The expo and networking
reception followed, and this gave the agents a chance
to ask the schools individualized questions, relating to
the material previously presented. The schools were
happy to answer the agents' questions. They were
pleased with the high turnout and all the important
agencies represented that evening.

Seoul Agent Expo
|
|
February 28th, 2006 More than 50 agents attended
55 agents of Korea's top student agencies attended
the Seoul Agents' Expo on February 28th, 2006. As in
Japan, each school got to make a presentation to the
agents. The U.S. Consulate also gave a seminar
discussing the new procedures and processes
involved with applying for and obtaining a U.S. Student
Visa.
The agents knew this talk would be very important to
their clientele, and were appreciative that the
Consulate answered their questions for about an
hour. During the expo and networking reception, the
schools and agents got a chance to talk about
important issues. The agents impressed the schools
with their straight-forward, professional questions on
specific topics, such as admissions requirements
and commissions. The agents were very
knowledgeable and learned a lot from the original
presentations. The high turnout, particularly by the top
agencies in Korea, also impressed the schools who
considered it a very productive evening.

Shanghai Expo
|
|
March 2nd, 2006 Over 60 agents attended, more than 400 students & parenst attended
The schools made the most of their visit to China. The
event saw 100% turnout with over 60 agents in
attendance. The U.S. Consulate gave another one-
hour seminar on the visa process, answering
important questions from the agents. Not only did the
agents attend this seminar, they brought their clients,
even though the seminar was designed
specifically for the agents.
The 2-hour expo was a very important exchange as
schools continue to seek ways to tap the vast human
resources of China. Once again, while the expo had
the needs of the agents in mind, 400 students joined
these agents, and had the opportunity to directly
meet
with the universities. While this was the third expo in
as many nights for the American representatives,
they
were very pleased with the turnout, and were happy
to
meet with the Chinese agents and students,
answering their questions. 60 agents attended the
networking reception 7-9 PM, after the clientele
finally
left. The college reps appreciated the enthusiasm
and
professionalism the agents exuded, knowing this an
important new market. They were also happy to find
that the agents wished to continue contact with the
universities to bring students from China to study in
the United States

Shanghai School Visits
|
|
March 3rd, 2006 Over 200 high school students attended Over 800 students & parents attended
Our represenataives visited two schools in Shanghai,
attracting 200 students combined. The students were
very happy that the schools came to visit, and the
universities and colleges appreciated the high turn-
out. The students got to ask the schools specific
questions, ranging from campus life, admission
requirements, available programs, and extra-
curricular activities.
The head guidance counselor at the first schools was
wonderful. She greeted the schools enthusiastically,
was instrumental in getting students to show up for
this event, over 80, and helping the students and
representatives interact. We encourage the
representatives to send her more information later on,
so that she can continue contact with each school,
and display the schools' information in the school's
guidance center.
At the second school visit, the guidance counselor
was another gracious host, who was very pleased to
welcome the American universities, and helped bring
out about 120 students from the school. He also
suggested our exhibitors to keep sending him
information over the summer, so that the high school
could have updated information for the next school
year.

As you know, we limit the numbers of universities we
take to Asian countries to allow for high-quality expos
and to foster continuing professional relationships
between American universities and international high
school administrators. Please let us know in advance
if you can join us next year for another visit. For
further information please call ISN at 215-246-3432.
Thank you again for making Asia Expo Spring 2006
one of our best tours!
Sincerely,
